BBI2O Business Fair

The Grade 10 Introduction to Business (BBI2O) class recently held a Business Fair at Crestwood Preparatory College. In pairs or as individuals, the students presented a presentation ‘pitch’ and manned a display booth featuring their entrepreneurial venture ideas to the Crestwood population over Junior and Senior lunches. Teachers and parents also attended to take in the many different ideas, and comment on the overwhelming creativity of our business students. The event was a tremendous success, and featured several unique and feasible venture plan ideas!

The Grade 10 students began brainstorming ideas for this project early in the year. They were limited by certain elements that were drawn from a hat when the project was launched. The logic behind choosing limiting elements was to give boundaries that would inspire creative problem-solving while discouraging any impractical ideas.

As students learned about the functions of business and entrepreneurship, they worked on a business proposal, creating a prototype of their invention or innovation along with packaging, a print ad that could be displayed in various places (i.e. a magazine or bus shelter), and finally a business report that involved researching budgets, competitors, target markets and much more!

At the Business Fair, the students ‘pitched’ their entrepreneurial idea to the attendees as they circulated to each student display booth. Fair attendees included all grade levels as well as administrators, faculty, and parents.

Winners of this year’s Business Fair were Cole Hock and Curtis Agemian for their innovation “Flashing Kicks!” Well done boys!
