The fall athletic program got off to a quick start the first week of school as the tryouts for the number of different athletic teams began. During the months of September –November the athletic program at Crestwood is vast- ranging from ultimate Frisbee, cross country, boys volleyball, boys soccer, and girls basketball. These teams consist of various age levels- Under 14- for grade 7 -8, Junior- for grades 9-10, and Senior- for grades 11-12. Under the helm of many dedicated coaches here at Crestwood this fall season was very successful as a number of the teams made it to their respective championship rounds.

The Under 14-girls basketball team coached by Ms. J Williams and Mrs. Winograd competed in their final four a couple of weeks ago- just falling short at the end, but with a young team they are looking forward to next year’s season. This past weekend saw the accumulation of the hard work and determination exemplified by Crestwood’s athletes as three teams were playing in championships rounds. The Junior Boys soccer team coached by Mr. Wheeler and Mr.Pryslak travelled to Hamilton and lost a nail biter, as they faced a tough game against De La Salle. The Junior Girls Basketball team coached by Ms. Dickinson, Mr. Rachlis and Mr.Pagano travelled to Belleville to compete in their tournament, playing the home team Albert College it was a very close first half but in the end lost a very competitive and well played game. To cap off a busy sorts day at Crestwood, The Senior Girls Basketball team under the watch of Mr. Santomero and Mrs. Newton were hosting their Championship Tournament- due to their undefeated season. In the first game they played they encountered some early injuries – but this did not slow our girl’s team down. Both teams exchanged point after point- eventually resulting in a double overtime loss to the York School.

Congratulations to all of the teams this fall athletic season and the success garnered this season only strengthens Crestwood’s reputation in athletics and sportsmanship.
